Formula X Nail Polish Review

I went to +Sephora  the other day it's practically a regular occurrence for me and in the Sephora near my house, they know me by name. I went on my regular browser ing
through the the isles and looking at all the different products. I usually like seeing the front displays because that's usually their new stuff. They are really pushing the nail polish sections I guess because nail art has been really popular lately so a lot of people have been buying more. In the past Sephora had a contract with OPI and they had that line of nail polish there. I guess recently OPI didn't renew their contract so they went with another brand. The new brand is called formula X this brand has a lot of different colors, it's really vibrant and has a lot of different glitters. A lot of people are into holographic glitter lately and this brand has a lot of them. After doing my rounds and walking around looking at the different brands and what's new what's hot in the makeup industry, I just went around the back where they have the skincare products so I can look at that new products and see if there's anything that tickles my fancy especially since I am a
diehard skincare fan. While doing that I came across another representative at Sephora and her nails caught my eyes. I proceeded to ask her what nail polish she has on and she went ahead and showed me that it was the formula X. The two colors she used were a light milky pink kind of like Essie Fiji and a holographic pink silver glitter. This color duo was gorgeous! It was girly and edgy all at the same time. I don't know why I was so drawn to it but I bought the two colors. The pink was called Translucent Wondrous  and the glitter top coat was called Brilliant Fine Like Einstein. These colors retail for $10-13 and for nail polish it's not cheap but not the most expensive. If you are like me who is a complete nail freak this is a great buy.

On to the actual nail polish it has a flawless application. The pink color needed 2 coats and it was an easy application nothing too goopy and it didn't streak like most light colors do. I let the pink dry completely and then added the glitter top coat. I added two coats of that as well so that it's more of a glitter polish and isn't just a top coat. I didn't want any of the milky pink to show through. I topped it with a topcoat and went on my way. This polish lasts! It didn't chip and with the glitter it made my nails stronger so I was happy to be able to wear it for a longer amount of time. I really think this polish is a great buy. It's wearability and the way the formula just goes on with a breeze makes it a pleasure to do your nails!

Try them out and let me know! Hope this helps you if you were thinking about getting this brand!

Julie G Neon Nail Polish

Summer is coming and NYC is finally getting warmer weather!!! This means that its time to use bolder and brighter anything. I love to add color to everything I wear and makeup and everything. For me the easiest is definitely my makeup and my nails. Usually when I start seeing the sun come out, I usually start diving into my NEON nail polish collections. This means that everything is bright and highlighter-like colors. I have a dozen of different colors and they are all gorgeous! One brand that my Twitter Biffie +Nicole YoungWildandPolished has been raving about is the Julie G brand. Not sure if you noticed but a lot of different brands have been coming out with neons this summer season as the new 'thing' on trend. A lot of brands have already done the neon thing and +Julie G is definitely one of them. Two of the colors that I love is Oh Emm Gee and Fierce & Fab. These are the types of colors I always gravitate to. They are a neon pink and a neon purple. Now these are true neons. You definitely do not need a white basecoat for them to be neon. Personally I like the neons with a white basecoat because it gives the polish a base that lets it pop. The colors are more vibrant. The same way with bright eyeshadows you put a white base just so that the colors look more pigmented, this has the same theory.

The Oh Emm Gee color is the neon pink and its just gorgeous. The the formula is great on this polish and it does have a matte finish like most neons. Not sure why that is. I like the color and at first I applied it without a white base so I went ahead and took that off and then added the white base. I personally like the color better with the white because it matches the color in the bottle better when it has a white base. But this is not one color that you definitely NEED it, I just prefer it.

The Fierce and Fab looks like a complete dupe for Dream On from +Sinful Colors. Sinful are $2 and Julie G retail for $4 so I would gravitate towards the cheaper one since the both of them are pretty exact. The formula are the same and the colors are exact. They both have a matte finish and I prefer both of them with a white basecoat. Again these aren't colors that you NEED it but I prefer it since it really makes the nail color pop.

Now if you are looking for a brand that their neons require absolutely nothing except a base and top coat-- I 100% recommend +chinaglazeofficial nail color. These are the best NEONs of any brand. My one thing is that it chips the next day. Flip Flop Fantasy legit chips on me overnight. Its the best color and the worst color ever!

Do you have a favorite NEON polish? I need to know! I am obsessed with neons!

NailCare Routine

Nail care! This is a first for me on my blog but for those of you who know me, I am all for nails. I make my own franken nail polish. I love doing different designs and things of that sort. I have a large collection compared to your normal person but being a nail addict, I've seen that I don't have nearly as large of a collection as other people I've seen before. So that being said, I take care of my nails a lot. I don't really take vitamins for my nails but I do know some people take Biotin which is good for nails, hair and skin. Its not a bad vitamin to take but I'd be afraid my hair would just grow way too much since its already down to my waist. I do this routine at least once a week if not more. I do paint my nails more times a week but when I repaint, I just remove the color and then repaint.

My routine starts with nail polish removal. I usually take normal nail polish off with a non-acetone nail polish remover. If I have something like glitter, then I will go in with Pure Acetone which makes it easier to take off glitter. I don't like to use it on my nails all the time because its so strong, it dries out my nails a lot. Once the nail polish is done, I go and take a shower. This is easier than soaking my nails. Once in the shower, I go in with a whitening scrub by Develop 10. This comes with a scrubbing brush. The instructions say to leave it on your nails for a bit, rub it in for about 10 seconds and then go ahead and scrub off. When you scrub, it creates more of a soapy feel and let that sit for a bit more before the whole thing gets washed off. Once I wash my nails, I finish showering and the water helps loosen my cuticles which makes it easier to push back later.

Once I get out of the shower, I put cuticle remover on. I leave this on for about 5 minutes and then push back my cuticles. The cuticle remover that I use is the Sally Hansen one. This one is really good. Its more of a gel and will stay put on your nails and you can do other things like text or change the remote. Thats really all you can do but still something. I go ahead push my cuticles back, I really never cut my cuticles. I don't like it since its really not good to do. Once my cuticles are all pushed back, I wash the gel off with soap and water and use the scrub brush while doing it, just to make sure that any dark polish residue or dirt is removed completely. Now that my nails are fresh, I file if needed, usually just a little bit of a small buffer around the edges to make sure that they are even and not all raggedy.

Once all of that is done, I am ready to paint my nails. I first use Orly Primetime which is not a basecoat but a primer for the basecoat. This basically just primes your nails. Makes sure that all the oils are removed, and any dirt that you may have on your nails. Once thats on, I then put on a basecoat. Lately, I've been using Essie Millionails. This is a nail treatment that is good for your nails. This helps them not be brittle and over all strengthen your nails and give them more of a healthy, polished look to them. This nail treatment really does wonders for my nails. After that, I choose a nail polish or two or three and paint away. I usually in with two coats unless its a sheer polish. If I am up for it, I do some designs with either a dotting tool or striping take and then I wait about 10 mins. After that I will then go in with a top coat. Right now, my topcoat of choice is Seche Vite. After I apply this, I let it dry for another ten minutes and then I add cuticle oil. After that I am good to go.I can go right to bed and not have to worry about my nails messing up or getting those smudges that you hate so much.

This is my whole routine. I know it might be a lot but once you do it and get into a routine, its really easy. This is something that I do on a weekly basis and my nails look great. They are long, strong and always looking great. If you were wondering how my nails look, my Instagram account has my nail pictures. Instragram: @Princesalauren

Deborah Lippmann Gel Lab Review

Finally getting down to the route of my obsession. I love doing my nails, if you follow me on Instagram or Facebook you will see that most of my pictures are of my nails. I love doing them at least 2-3 times weekly. I can't stand to see nails that are chipped or not shiny. I am not a huge fan of Deborah Lippmann nail products because they are very pricey especially for someone like me that changes her colors every 2 or 3 days. I do keep up with the products that they have though just to see what they come out with and I saw a couple of months ago...maybe a year, they came out with a Gel Lab. So this is suppose to be just like getting a gel manicure but without having to have a light to cure it. Unfortunately, I've gotten gel done on my nails and I regret it so much. The reason why I got them done more than once was because I thought, maybe it was the brand or the place. First time I went to a local place in Queens, Diva-Licious Nail & Spa and they did a good job with applying it, a little messy but I was happy with the shine. My first time there, it chipped within 3 days (even though gel should last up to 10 days) and I went back and they were apologetic (I didn't get a discount or anything) and this time it lasted 2 days so I was basically done with gel manicures.

I work at an agency and we have vendors that take us out for mani/pedis and usually are at really nice places. This one vendor saw that I loved nail art so they decided to take my co-worker and me to Valley Nails on Elizabeth Street in the Village. These girls have talent and when I saw the work that they could do, I was so excited so I decided to get gel since the designs are so much cooler with gel. What a mistake! This gel started to peel from the cuticle within 5 days and then when it came off, it ripped my nails. I soaked them right away, being that I am a nail art fanatic, I have everything I needed to remove the gel. I soaked my nails for about 20 mins. Most of the color came off but while scraping it off, it ruined my nails to where it took over 6 months for the ridges to grow out. I've come to believe that gel polish isn't for me. Until I saw this gel labs product.
I started to read about it immediately and I saw everything that I wanted. High-shine, long-wearing finish and cushiony texture that a gel manicure gives you but without the lamps, extra time and damage to the nails. Also, this can be used with regular nail polish as where the regular gel manicures need specific gel polish to actually work correctly. All it is is a two-step system-- a base coat and a topcoat. The base coat has biotin, green tea extract and aucoumea in it which is good for your nails and the topcoat is fast drying that its just easy to use. The base coat actually makes the the colored polish go on easier and it creates a barrier so that its easier to get a better application. The color stays on longer than with other base coat and top coat but I still change my polish every 3 or 4 days when I use this set.
This retails for $45 and I have to say, no its not worth spending that much money on a base/top coat because the shine still dulls and the chipping still happens. I actually was able to pick this up with a promo that Good Morning America ran that gave it like a 60% off which is why I got it. I still think if I would have tried it, I wouldn't have purchased because I think you can get the same gel look with Sally Hansen or Seche Vite products.
