LIPSTICK REVIEW!!! These are probably my most favorite reviews other than skincare. Its because I am just in love with lipstick. I am fearless because at the end of the day, its just lipstick. there is no need to think "is this color too much?" why not wear the bold lip-- who cares! It does help the fact that I live in New York City and I always feel like here you can do no wrong with anything whether its clothes or makeup. You can't look crazy here in New York. I guess I am more daring here than I am in Puerto Rico just because here in NY its a different style but rest assured whenever I go to Puerto Rico, I wear my bold lipsticks and OWN IT! A lot of my friends especially +Madeline Mulero think its great that I have the guts to pull off MAC Heroine or LimeCrime Pink Velvet. I have to say, I just wear them, thats it. I don't really think about it. Now you can't really go all crazy and have a smokey eye and a bold lip if you are just going to work. I balance it out with just mascara and maybe a liner and thats it. My eyes are usually downplayed so that my lips can pop.
I went to the drugstore and I wanted to see what Lipsticks I can for a recent trip I took to Puerto Rico and when I look for lipsticks, I want something on the matted finish and if it has any shine I would go for the satin finish but other than that, I am not a fan of gloss. I think they look kind of messy on your lips. When I think good drugstore lipsticks, I go straight to Loreal or +Revlon. I've been eyeing the Revlon Color Burst Matte balm lip crayons and I decided to take the plunge. I went for the color UnApologetic. This color is a great vibrant coral, raspberry pink color. It is gorgeous! It goes on smooth and immediately you feel that it has like a chapstick minty feeling which is nice. Nothing tingly like if it were to plump your lips but a regular chapstick feeling. The color is vibrant which I like. I am excited to wear it when I am in Puerto Rico and have a tan. This color is probably a little bit of a dupe for +NARS Satin Crayon in Lohdi but the Revlon is more vibrant and not as muted.
This retails from around $7-9 depending on where you get it. I recommend maybe waiting until you can get it on sale but either way I think these lipsticks are worth it. I will definitely go back and get more. You can get these in most drugstores and other stores like Walmart or Target.

If you've been reading my blog posts you will know that I am totally in love with a bold lip. I feel like in the Summer you will notice that it is just too hot to cake on your foundation and just put a lot of makeup on. That doesn't mean that you don't wear makeup. I don't think I would ever not wear makeup. I try to always stay trendy with my makeup and one of the things that you will always see in Beauty Magazines are that a bold lip is the way to go for summer. Your skin should be nice, natural and dewy nothing too harsh. Everything sheer when thinking about summer. I like to do that also. I usually go for a nice glow on my cheeks and a bold lip with a little bit of mascara.
If you've read some of my posts in the past. I've raved about Nars lip crayons. They have different finishes available but I personally stick to the velvet finish which are the ones that are more matte and then my second favorite is the satin finish which is a little bit more creamy but still matte enough to not be a gloss. Lately I've been looking for another type of bold lipstick color because I've noticed that I have either hot pinks or purples which isn't really bold if thats your normal color. I decided that since its summer I would go for more of an orange color. After asking around and trying on different colors I decided to stick with the Nars Satin Crayon in Timanfaya. This is a mandarin bright orange color which is the boldest of all bold color. I am going to be going to Puerto Rico in a week and I figured that this color would be amazing with a tan. If anyone can pull this color off it would definitely be me.
If you are looking for something bold, something that will make you stand out, I think you can't go any bolder than this color. It retails for $25 and you can purchase it in +Sephora in stores or online. You can also find these in +NARS Cosmetics store fronts around the US.

You can't go wrong! You look fierce and you will feel fierce! That being said I wanted to review one of my new favorite red lippies. I had become a VIB Rouge member in Sephora at the beginning of the year. It was cool to get an upgraded card and a nice welcome to the club gift. You get a Bite Cosmetics VIB Rouge Creme Lipstick in the VIB Bright limited edition red. This color is just perfect. Its not matte which is something that I am not used to liking. I am definitely more of a Matte lipcolor especially when it comes to a bold color but this red is just perfect. It has a blue undertone which helps your teeth look whiter and I think this color will look good on all skin tones. Its just one of those colors that would make anyone go from normal to GLAM in just a second.
I wore this with a plain eye. I usually just put a cream eyeshadow and then just tightline with a dark brown or black eyeshadow. I go in with bold mascara meaning I use a couple of coats, make sure they are fanned and curled. I also have bolder eyebrows so I don't go crazy with my eyes if I want to make this a day time look which is what I did. I lined my lips with NYX lipliner in bloom which is a fuchsia pink color just because its the closest color to red that I have. I put the lipstick on and this color goes on so pigmented that you really only need one swipe of color. It goes on satin finish since its not really glossy but its not matte. I wore it through eating and drinking and the color stayed on the whole day. I was really happy to have received this and will probably get the full size. This lipstick retails for $28 and honestly its just one of those colors that is totally worth it. I don't know if I can even mention a dupe. If I find one I will definitely let you guys know!
Yay I am happy to announce that I finally am a VIB Rouge member in +Sephora. This is for those who are ultra obsessed with Sephora. When you spend certain amounts of dollars in Sephora per year, you get special perks. For regular VIB status you need to spend $300 and if you spend $1000 then you get VIB Rouge. This is a new status perk that they added I believe in 2013. When you get to the Rouge status, you get a new card which is red and to welcome you into the "club" you get a special edition rouge lipstick by Bite. Along with the lipstick and the cool new VIB card, you get other special perks like earlier announcements of new items and getting to buy them before other people do. One thing I love is that you get unlimited make up applications at stores and there isn't a minimum purchase required. I love that I can go in, I believe you would have to make an appointment just to ensure that you get in and they have time for you, and get your make up done. In this session, the makeup artist usually explains what they are doing and its a good one on one time to sit with the make up artist and feel like a complete rock star or celebrity. The best thing is, you can do this for EVERY SINGLE DAY if you really wanted to. This is an unlimited benefit and you can get it done. I think this is great lets say you are working all day and then you have an event that night that you want to look good for or have a different look for. You can just call ahead of time, make an appointment and then just walk in and get your makeup done from start to finish or if you want they can just do your eyes or something like that.
Another perk is that you get invited to special events that they hold for VIB Rouge members. So if there is a big launch or a season change like Spring, they host an event at a store where they close the store down and you get to enjoy the store with no clutter, many people are able to help you and you don't feel like you are being pushed around by the millions of people. I live in NYC so yes my Sephoras have millions of people, especially the one on 34th street. Its total chaos. But during these special shopping events, they have little gifts for you as well. These are all things I love to get when I go into a Sephora and now as a VIB Rouge, I can definitely get them every single time.
